Tehran -Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday expressed condolence to Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh on death and injury of scores of Palestinians in Gaza strip.
In a telephone contact with Haniyeh, the president sympathized with the Hamas government on death of 19 Palestinians and injury of 45 others.
Ahmadinejad strongly condemned "Israeli" invasion of Gaza and said that the nation of Palestine is exposed to suppression for safeguarding their dignity and religion empty-handed. He said the Palestinian nation will certainly be victorious.
President Ahmadinejad also expressed condolence on martyrdom of Hussam al-Zahar, 24, son of Palestinian Foreign Minister Mahmoud al-Zahar.
He said that the "Israeli" regime and its supporters think that such heinous crimes will force the Palestinians to back down on their legitimate demand to liberate their territories from "Israeli" occupation.
Haniyeh thanked the president for his sympathy with the bereaved families and said that such crimes can never affect the national movement to liberate the occupied territories.
"Israel" killed 19 Palestinians and wounded 45 others in an attack on the Gaza Strip on Tuesday.
Referring to the high number of casualties, witnesses said that "Israeli" troops are using tank-fired flechette shells, an anti-personnel weapon that throws out thousands of metal darts.
Shifa Hospital in a message broadcast on radio called for blood donations because of the large number of wounded.
Doctors said that the wounded have lost limbs questioning whether "Israel" used cluster bombs against Gazan residential area.
