GAZA-The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas on Wednesday considered the ongoing negotiations between Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas and "Israeli" Prime Minister Ehud Olmert as absurd, stressing that continuing the talks is a crime against the Palestinian nation.
Hamas statement came following the end of a new round of talks between Abbas and Olmert held in al-Quds on Tuesday, in light of disagreements between the two sides over the core issue of al-Quds.
In this regard, Hamas spokesman told Alalam TV in an exclusive interview that the last meeting between Olmert and Abbas ended up with more failures for both parties.
"We, in fact, are facing futile negotiations and the 'Israeli' regime which is seeking to cover up its crimes gets the sole beneficiary," added Sami Abu Zuhri.
"Such negotiations are abused by the Zionist regime in order to expand its crimes under the pretext of promoting security cooperation with Palestinian Authority. This is while Abbas is also going to accompany them by following the peace blueprint known as the roadmap which forms the basis for the ongoing negotiations", Abu Zuhri said.
Olmert and Abbas met on Tuesday in a bid to advance peace talks as "Israeli" troops continued to strike the Gaza Strip.
Less than three months after relaunching the peace process, the negotiations appear to be stalled amid persistent violence in Gaza.
