Syria raps UN Secretary-General over "Israel"
Source: alalam.ir, 02-03-2008
UNITED NATIONS-Syrian representative to the United Nations has criticized the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon over his support of "Israel".
Speaking to Alalam TV Sunday, Bashar al-jafari criticized Moon saying, "The UN secretary general should have not trusted 'Israeli' intelligence service (Mossad) reports insulting the Palestinians resistance in Gaza."
"What is more is that Moon has made no mention of the 'Israeli' occupation of the Palestinians territories while condemning the resistance movement," Syrian official said.
Jafari made the remarks following a UN Security Council emergency meeting called by the UN Security Council member Libya on behalf of the Arab League and at the request of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas for condemning the "Israeli" atrocities in the Gaza Strip.
"Everybody should know that who is stopping the UNSC from taking measure against 'Israel'. If 'Israel' did not enjoy the support of any countries in the SC, the regime would not keep committing crimes against Palestinians," the Syrian official said.
In the UNSC emergency meeting held Saturday, Ban described as "terrorist acts" the Palestinian rocket attacks against "Israelis" in retaliation to the Zionists' crimes in the Gaza Strip, ignoring the "Israeli" massacre of the Palestinians in the last four days in the region.
Ban also condemned what he called "Israel's" "disproportionate and excessive" use of force in the Gaza Strip.
He called upon "Israel" to immediately cease fire.
More than 106 Palestinians have been killed and hundreds of others injured in the "Israel" latest attacks on the Gaza Strip.
