Rice comes to cover up "Israeli" crimes
Source: alalam.ir, 05-03-2008
GAZA STRP-US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has come to the region in yet another bid to cover up the atrocities of the "Israeli" occupying regime, Hamas spokesman said.
Hamas spokesman, Fawzi Barhoum told Alalam correspondent Tuesday in Gaza that Rice has come to the occupied territories to support the crimes the "Israeli" regime is committing in Gaza and the West Band and to cover up the regime atrocities in the region.
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was to wrap up her latest Middle East peace bid on Wednesday only hours after "Israeli" occupying troops briefly rolled into the Gaza Strip in another deadly incursion.
Rice had been meeting "Israeli" Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in Al-Quds on Tuesday night when "Israeli" troops backed by helicopters clashed with Hamas resistance fighters after several tanks entered Gaza, witnesses said.
"We look forward to the resumption of negotiations as soon as possible," she said after meeting Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas.
Abbas did not say when he might return to the negotiating table, but insisted that "the negotiations are necessary and we are committed to them."
Abbas on Tuesday called for a truce between "Israel" and the Palestinians, both in his West Bank powerbase and in the Gaza Strip.
But Hamas rejected the call for a reciprocal ceasefire, insisting the blame lay with "Israeli" occupying regime.
"We consider the statements of the Palestinian president about the truce an unbalanced call because the problem lies in the occupation, not in the Palestinian people," its spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said.
