GAZA STRIP-A senior member of the Islamic resistance movement Hamas has declared that Palestinians will not accept any ceasefire with the "Israeli" occupying regime.
Speaking to Alalam Thursday night, Ismail Radwan said: "We have repeatedly announced that the problem is not with us because the Palestinian nation has right to defend itself against the ‘Israeli' occupying regime's atrocities. That's why we do not accept any truce with the Zionist regime."
The Hamas official said that "when the Zionist regime's atrocities, massacres, attacks, and terrors against the Palestinian nation stop and the blockade on the Gazans is lifted, we can think about ceasefire."
Rizvan further said that in meetings between Palestinian and Egyptian officials in the Egyptian city of al-Arish several issues, including reopening Rafah border crossing, talks between struggling Palestinian groups, lifting Gaza blockade, and also the issue of ceasefire were raised."
Referring to the present calm in Gaza, the Hamas official said: "After receiving heavy blows from resistance forces and having failed in their military incursions into the Gaza Strip, the Zionist regime now has come to realize that it cannot provide security for the Zionists through acts of violence."
"The resistance took retaliatory measures against the Zionist regime and responded the terror they created in the occupied lands, and that's why the ‘Israeli' occupying regime tried to cut its attacks against the Palestinian nation," he said.
"However, the regime is dreadful of revealing the truth," Rizvan added.
The remarks by Rizvan came a day after Khalil Abu Leilah turne down a call by the Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas to implement a ceasefire agreement with the occupying regime saying, "Abbas' claims on truce is an attempt to cover up resumption of talks with ‘Israel'."
Abu Leilah had stressed that there was no direct talks on ceasefire.
