Assad to Aoun: Syria will never return to Lebanon

As-Safir newspaper reported on Thursday that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad told Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun during a closed meeting with both countries' delegations that Assad spoek to Aoun and called for being honest and clear because, he said MP Aoun "acts the same way he talks."

Assad affirmed that Syria is persistent and will not return to Lebanon no matter what.
"We used to be opponents with Turkey for a long time and we were convinced that it was occupying our territory and invading our rights, but starting a transparent dialogue paved the way for new relations and friendship between both countries, and this is what we are looking for with you and with those who prioritize Lebanon's interest," Assad told Aoun, As-Safir read.

An-Nahar newspaper reported that Assad said that Aoun that he used to be an honorable adversary.
"I appreciate your firmness and I praise your patriotic positions that make you an important Arab man," Asaad told Aoun according to the paper.
