Ayatollah Fadlallah calls on US to stop intervening in Lebanese affairs

Religious Authority Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah noted during the Friday Prayer that many American congressmen have visited Beirut recently and claimed they would not change their position toward Lebanon and would not pursue any policies at the expense of the country.
He added that the United Sates participated with "Israel" in waging war against Lebanon in July of 2006, and that America obstructed UN Security Council Resolution 1701. He called on the US to stop interfering in internal Lebanese affairs in order to give the country's citizens the freedom to choose their nation's course.
He said that different political parties in Lebanon were still making accusations against each other concerning foreign and local financing for the upcoming elections, which, he said, gave the impression that the country was in a state of political war, where "sectarian weapons" were being used.
