US President Barack Obama's approval rating fell to 39%, according to a recent Quinnipiac University survey released on Tuesday.

Obama’s Approval Rating Falls to 39%: US Poll
The survey, carried out by Quinnipiac University by recently interviewing 1,623 registered voters between November 18-23, found that Obama's approval rating stands at 39%, just one point above the 38% he obtained in December 2013.

The president's disapproval rating now stands at 54% and the only group of voters who say they were generally satisfied with the way he is doing his job are those born after 1985, according to the survey.

Moreover, the survey of the overall support for the US immigration reform showed a record low 48 percent of American voters back the decision to grant illegal immigrants permission to stay in the US. Thirty-five percent of US citizens support deportation of illegal immigrants.

However, some 68 percent of the participants disapproved of any move by Republicans to force a government shutdown to block Obama's executive actions.

"Americans seem divided on immigration, but they agree on one thing: They don't want a government shutdown over President Obama's action on immigration," the assistant director of the Quinnipiac poll, Tim Malloy, said.

Obama announced his executive action decisions in a speech to the nation last Thursday, and they are expected to benefit some five million undocumented foreigners, who will be able to avoid deportation for three years and receive work permits.
