Hajj Hassan: US Refused to Equip Army before Hizbullah Existed!
Source: Al-Manar TV, 05-10-2008
Hizbullah reiterated on Sunday its commitment to reconciliations in order to safeguard the country against sedition schemes, calling for more unity and cooperation among Lebanese, stressing at the same time that the United States refusal to provide the Lebanese Army with weapons was expected.
In this context, member of Loyalty to the Resistance parliamentary bloc MP Hussein Hajj Hassan said that the United States' refusal to provide the Lebanese army with weapons was not something new, stressing that this policy had been in place before Hizbullah emerged as a
significant force in Lebanon.
Speaking at the beginning of a race from Baalbek to the Presidential Palace, part of the sixth
Francophone Games currently being hosted by Lebanon, Hajj Hassan responded to criticisms regarding Hizbullah's refusal to allow Palestinians to settle permanently in Lebanon. He said that information regarding the increasing difficulty of returning Palestinians to their homeland had proved Hizbullah's concerns to be well founded.
Meanwhile, Hajj Hassan called on all parties to work towards unity and reconciliation between Lebanese people, in order to confront attempts aimed at fostering sedition and undermining security.
