Once again, the so-called March 14 bloc proves its solidity, firmness and unity...
Indeed, in this bloc, not only "allies" contradict themselves in dealing with any outstanding issue, but the "differences" appear with the same person, within a few minutes!
On Thursday, Phalange party leader Amin Gemayel held a press conference in which he accused the Islamic Republic of seeking to provide some Lebanese sides with weapons. Only a few minutes later, Gemayel expressed complete readiness to visit Iran if he was invited to do so!
Gemayel explained his readiness by saying that his party was one of openness to all and had always sought dialogue with everyone. Lebanese did not have the time yet to forget how the head of the Change and Reform parliamentary bloc MP Michel Aoun's ongoing visit to Iran was criticized by Gemayel's bloc.
One day earlier, Kuwaiti daily Ad-Dar revealed that Gemayel was doing his best to visit Iran as soon as possible and meet Iranian officials. The daily said that Gemayel told the Iranian ambassador in Lebanon about his intention and was promised that his wish would be reported to the Iranian leadership.
Meanwhile, Gemayel said that his party had always struggled and had offered many "martyrs" to preserve the Christians of Lebanon. He said that Phalange was still ready to pursue all possible paths to solidarity. He added that the party supported the Christians of Iraq.
Gemayel called for continuous communication with Iraqi Christian families who had been attacked and persecuted. He condemned the "silence" of US forces and the European countries on the matter, especially while security was improving in other Iraqi regions.
Gemayel said that whoever cares about Christians in the Middle East should be concerned about Lebanese Christians and help speed up their reconciliation.
