Hobballah: There are no obstacles to Hizbullah-Future meetings
Source: nowlebanon.com, 21-10-2008
Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Hassan Hobballah told NOW Lebanon on Tuesday that there was no obstacle to a meeting between Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Future Movement leader Saad Hariri. "It is a matter of time, especially since the political decision was taken by both parties when the Hizbullah delegation visited Qoreitem in September," Hobballah said.
Hobballah said that the Hizbullah-Future meeting would be aimed at achieving the nation's highest interests, and would be positively reflected in the streets. He said that while the meetings and reconciliation would not affect the coming elections, they would organize relations between the Lebanese and reinforce national unity. Hizbullah's electoral program, he said, was the same with its allies. He added that Hizbullah's headline would be "refusing foreign interference, preserving national unity, protecting Lebanon from ‘Israeli' danger and defending Lebanon."
Hobballah said that the opposition was united. "If there are different points of view, this is surely style not substance and its solution is possible. Definitely, there is no significant divergence between the opposition forces," he said.
Asked about the security situation in Lebanon and Beirut, Hobballah said that he hoped political disputes would remain within a "democratic framework."
"Each political party has the right to suggest its political views," Hobballah said, "however, no party has the right to intentionally undermine security or jeopardize national principles." He said security is the duty of Lebanese security forces. "Reconciliation, calm and political stability positively reflect on the whole security situation, and all factions are working for this," he said.
