Once again, the Lebanese national opposition proved to be the people's choice in Lebanon...

On Sunday, all eyes were directed to the North where the North Bar Association Elections were scheduled, amid a "hot battle" that emerged over the seat of the syndicate chief between the opposition represented by Antoine Airout (obedient to Marada movement) and the so-called pro-government bloc represented by Toni Tajer (obedient to Future Movement).

And the opposition made it! It made it in Tripoli, the capital of the North believed to be "theirs!"

Indeed, in the final results, Airout received 474 votes against 371 votes for his competitor Tajer. The opposition candidate for the membership of the syndicate Fahd Al-Mokaddam also won, receiving 486 votes against 327 for his competitor Adnan Shalak.

Speaking to Al-Manar following the "victory," Airout stressed that the result was expected. According to Airout, this "victory" is not strange although the political circles in Beirut and the North were expecting the triumph of the other bloc.

"Tripoli proved that this syndicate is disobedient to confiscation and mastery," Airout told Al-Manar, adding that "no one can take the bar association to a place it doesn't want."
