Rafsanjani advises Lebanese to maintain unity

TEHRAN- The new atmosphere of reconciliation prevailing in Lebanon can help the country's political and sectarian groups establish peace and tranquility, Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said here on Sunday.
Rafsanjani made the remarks during a meeting with the new Lebanese ambassador to Tehran, Zein Ali al-Moussawi, IRNA reported.
It is essential that Lebanese leaders adopt a unified approach to maintain the country's stability and security, the EC chairman advised.
Safeguarding this historical achievement should be on the top of the agenda, he stated.
Iran is determined to support the Lebanese people, he said, adding that the expansion of political, economic, and cultural relations would benefit the two nations.
Ambassador al-Moussawi briefed Rafsanjani on the latest developments in Lebanon and thanked Iran for its support.
The Lebanese ambassador also said the expansion of bilateral relations is in the best interests of the two countries.
