Aoun: Responsibilities within Cabinet to Be Regulated
Source: Al-Manar TV, 10-11-2008
The head of the Change and Reform parliamentary bloc MP Michel Aoun slammed on Monday Lebanon's Prime Minister Fouad Saniora accusing him of taking sometimes steps that are the right of his ministers, and then justifies them later. He said that the work of the cabinet, the responsibilities of its general manager, and the distribution of tasks must be regulated.
"If he were a real prime minister, he would have decided to cut out those who beat the bodyguards of Minister Mario Aoun and then waited for the results of the investigations, which at any rate produced shady statements," Aoun told reporters following the weekly meeting of his parliamentary bloc.
Aoun noted that the behavior of the security forces leader in Mount Lebanon was unacceptable, as he was pressuring a victim to step down from his rights, revealing that a student was stabbed with a knife and the stabber was only arrested for one day. "We request the security forces leader in Mount Lebanon be replaced," Aoun said, adding that he's perhaps like his commanders, for that is how they behaved in the Grand Serail "and I mean the prime minister specifically."
Answering a question about the confessions broadcast by Syria, the General called on to leave the Fatah al-Islam issue to the judiciary, saying that "we knew about the confessions a long time ago and the prominent journalist Seymour Hersh wrote about this."
