Karami: Normalizing ties with Syria bring Lebanon security and prosperity
Source: Nowlebanon.com, 12-11-2008
Former Prime Minister Omar Karami said that "Lebanon can't enjoy prosperity and security unless there is a normal and equal relationship with the Syrians."
After meeting with representatives from the Christian National Gathering on Tuesday, Karmai asked, "how can we establish normal relations with the Syrians if we reject the setting up of the coordination committees?"
Discussing the allegations that the Future movement helped fund the militant group Fatah al-Islam, recently broadcast on Syrian state TV, Karami said that the "Lebanese and Syrian judiciary should investigate the matter thoroughly to reveal the truth."
Karami also reiterated his call for postponing the national dialogue until after the elections.
