BEIRUT: Former head of the General Security Jamil Sayyed, detained on suspicion of involvement in the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, said Thursday he refused to go to court unless he is released afterward. "In the absence of serious Lebanese judicial investigation, [Sayyed] is willing to appear before the international probe commission into the Hariri assassination," a statement released on his behalf said. Sayyed also expressed willingness to appear before a Lebanese court "on condition that State Prosecutor Said Mirza sets him free once the session is over and not to maintain his political arrest."
