Lebanon's Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri continued his visit to Kuwait where he held a series of meetings with Kuwaiti officials and stressed the need to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and consolidate Arab solidarity in all issues.
Berri met Sunday with the Deputy Emir and Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah who prayed for greater Arab solidarity in order to achieve the aspirations of the people, and wished Lebanon more advancement and prosperity.
On his part, Berri lauded the Kuwaiti leadership and people for the continued support to Lebanon in hardship and underscored the important role played by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development in the reconstruction of Lebanon.
The Lebanese Speaker, afterwards, held a meeting with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohamad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah who wished success for Lebanon.
Berri also met with National Assembly (parliament) Speaker Jassem Mohammad Al-Kharafi. Latest regional and international developments and means to develop bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries were discussed during the meeting.
Speaking to reporters, Berri called for developing the Unified Arab Parliament and stressed the importance to "stand together" during a meeting of the UAP in Oman next March.
"Heads of the Arab Parliaments should attend the upcoming meeting so we could together come out with one unified stand to face the dangerous political and financial developments across the universe that is reaching the Arabs," Berri said.
He thanked Kuwait for its continuous commitment to help Lebanon and hoped it would assist Lebanon in getting rid of cluster bombs.
