Abu Zeinab: Gemayel΄s rhetoric contradicted the constitution and Taif Accord
26-11-2008
Hizbullah political council member Ghaleb Abu Zeinab said that Kataeb leader Amin Gemayel's speech on Sunday during his party's 72nd anniversary celebration was very dangerous because Gemayel contradicted the constitution and the Taif Accord. "He calls for federalism and partition... Why this proposal right now? If it was for electoral gain, I think he is risking Lebanon," Zeinab said.
In an interview with Al-Manar television on Wednesday, Zeinab said that Gemayel's rhetoric was unreasonable because it was against the Lebanese call for "one nation, not fighting cantons," he said.
Zeinab said that Gemayel's suggestions were proposed in the past, and the Lebanese rejected them because partition only led to wars and were dangerous to the Christians and all of Lebanon.
Zeinab called on the March 14 forces to take a clear position on Gemayel's words, because he contradicted everything March 14 was based on and its claim that it wants the implementation of the Taif Accord, sovereignty and independence.
